Kintamani district is located in the north of Bali in a mountainous area. It is from this area that unforgettable views of the volcanoes Agung, Batur and Bratan open. Kintamani is much cooler than southern Bali.

Kintamani is home to one of the nine main temples in Bali - the Hindu temple Ulun Danu Batur. The modern Ulun Danu Batur Temple is located about 8 km from Kintamani on a mountain, the temple grounds offer wonderful views of the volcano. It is most convenient to stop here when traveling by car or motorbike.

One of the most interesting tourist attractions is climbing the Batur volcano at dawn. Locals believe that climbing the Batur volcano will help you cleanse yourself and start life with a clean slate. The ascent to Batur volcano takes 1.5 hours depending on the pace; at the top you will be offered a light breakfast and coffee/tea.
Hot springs near Batur are a complex of reservoirs. The water in them heats up to 50 degrees, contains many minerals and sulfur, and has healing properties. Thermal springs are common not only among tourists. Local residents have long come here to be healed and cleansed.
